Ok, ok, we have a confession to make. We’ve not been working out very much at all recently and we feel that we owe everyone an explanation.
There has been some severe cases of man flu in our household and we’ve been slacking. Wallowing in self-pity and gorging on inappropriate foods such as chocolate pancakes at 10.30pm on Sunday evenings and yes, there have been trips to the Golden Arches for the most delightful bundles of joy ever to come out of McDonalds – Mozzarella Dippers.
So, to get ourselves back on track I’ve been researching top tips to motivate yourself for exercise and I’m going to try a new one every day for a week and see what works.
Below are some tips I will be trying, if anyone has any ideas please do comment on this blog with suggestions.
1. Wear your workout clothes to bed.
The idea behind this one is so when you get up in the morning you don’t have to worry about getting dressed, just roll out of bed and straight into your workout. Can imagine this will be slightly uncomfortable.
2. Relieve stress.
So if I’m reading this right I’m going to need to find something that really stresses me out and then go exercise to forget about it and feel better. Shouldn’t be too difficult.
3. Hypnotise yourself.
I’m particularly looking forward to this one. I watched Big Kids when I was younger so I’m pretty sure I’ve got this down.
4. Substitute unproductive activities with healthy ones.
I’m not sure how I’ll be able to play Tippy Tap on my iPhone while exercising but where there’s a will, there’s a way.
5. Run with a friend.
6. Make it fun.
I’m thinking obstacle courses. This one could be interesting.
7. Take breaks.
